1) Why was OneReport® developed?
OneReport® was developed in response to increasing market
demands for the corporate governance, environmental, and social
performance data of publicly traded companies. Institutional
investors and research and rating agencies in particular need
timely, accurate, and comparable data on which to base their
decisions and recommendations. Additionally, many companies
see that providing this information leverages the value of
their sustainability performance.
2) Why should my company use OneReport®?
OneReport®
- Organizes and simplifies your company’s reporting
process
- Eliminates redundant data requests
- Ensures the delivery of consistent data to the marketplace
- Enables your company to use its sustainability data for
risk management and other purposes
Companies save time and money by going to one place for all
their corporate sustainability data distribution. OneReport®
has consolidated data requests from over 20 of the world’s
leading research and ratings agencies and incorporates them
within the GRI framework. It is an easy-to-use Web-based system
that features delegation, review, and approval functions,
as well as workflow and data management tools.
3) Who receives my company’s reported
data?
Companies control which data users receive data based on
industry and geographic location. The data users include research
and ratings agencies which evaluate social, environmental,
economic, and corporate governance information for investors.
Over 20 research and ratings agencies that cover over 5,000
companies worldwide have agreed to collect sustainability
data through the OneReport® network, and therefore have provided
their survey data requests for incorporation into OneReport®.
(To find out more about OneReport® data users, go to the Data
Users page)
OneReport® eliminates redundancy among research and rating
agency surveys by integrating similar data requests. Because
of this integration, several research and ratings agencies
may contribute to a given OneReport® data request. Reporting
companies nevertheless have control over which OneReport® data
users receive their reported data for integrated data requests.
The exception is data provided in response to Global Reporting
Initiative (GRI) reporting guidelines. OneReport® considers
GRI data to be publicly available, and therefore distributes
reported GRI data to all OneReport® data users.
4) How is OneReport® organized?
OneReport® contains consolidated data requests from research
and rating organizations, and organizes them largely around
the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework. (For more
information about GRI, click here) Topics within OneReport®
are grouped into sections and subsections, allowing users
to report subject by subject. There are six subject areas:
- Vision and Strategy
- Organizational Profile
- Governance Structure and Management Systems
- Economic Performance
- Environmental Performance
- Social Performance
- Assurance
Individual research and ratings agency data requests are
ordered before and after individual GRI indicators. Those
requests that ask for one aspect of a topically related GRI
indicator are placed before the indicator. A reporting company
therefore can provide information for several integrated research
and ratings agency data requests before reaching the related
GRI indicator. OneReport® enables the company to attach to
the GRI indicator previously provided related data, thereby
reducing redundancy.
Individual research and ratings agency data requests that
are only topically related to a GRI indicator and do not provide
relevant information are listed after the GRI indicator.
5) How were the data requests developed?
The data requests within OneReport® are market driven. They
derive entirely from the information requested by top-level
researchers and analysts. SRI World Group integrates the surveys
of participating research and rating agencies for OneReport®
on an annual basis, thereby offering your company an easy
and cost-effective method determining what the latest market
demands are for corporate sustainability data.
6) What is the reporting process within OneReport®?
The reporting process within OneReport® has multiple steps
that are designed to help your company report accurate and
consistent data. Depending on which service option your company
chooses, these steps may include:
Customize: Customization of OneReport® allows the global
setting of parameters, such as choosing the research and
ratings agencies to which your company will report, deadline
setting, and selecting workflow options.
Delegate: A company has the ability to delegate reporting
tasks according to its own needs. Data requests may be assigned
to individual company users who may have access only to
the parts of the system for which he or she is authorized,
or data requests may be assigned to a team of users.
Input Data: Within each data request, specific data points
can be easily entered, supporting documents may be uploaded,
and commentary may be provided. Company users can also enter
related notes and documents that are for internal use only.
Approval: Your company may choose to have the data for each
request approved by an authorized employee before the data
is released.
Review: Other members of your company, such as auditors,
legal affairs, or public relations personnel, may have access
to approved data on a read-only basis, and may provide commentary
for consideration.
Release: Once inputted data is deemed ready, it can be released
to selected data users by the authorized person within your
company. Data requests may be released to one data user
or multiple data users at once.
7) What is a Reporting Administrator?
A single person in your company will be selected as the administrator
of OneReport® and has complete oversight of the reporting process.
The Reporting Administrator may choose to perform all reporting
tasks, or only a few. He or she is charged, among other responsibilities,
with customizing the database, setting up other users, and
delegating sections of OneReport® for others to oversee. In
all OneReport® service options, the Reporting Administrator
has complete control of the reporting process.
8) What tools are provided with OneReport®?
Depending on the service option your company choose, OneReport®
offers powerful tools that will increase the efficiency of
your company’s reporting process. For instance, OneReport®
offers the ability to view and import archived data from previous
years, create and print customized documents, maintain an
activity log, and monitor the real-time status of all aspects
of reporting. It also provides a document library for managing
and uploading documents and an internal notes and document
function for keeping relevant confidential internal information.
For more details, please visit the OneReport®
Service Options page.
9) How is the data reported?
The company Reporting Administrator is charged with the responsibility
of releasing data requests to data users, and may “unrelease,”
or take back, such access to any data request. Once a data
request has been released, an automated email is sent to the
research and rating agency letting them know that information
is available. The research and rating agency then accesses
the data through the OneReport® website, using appropriate
security measures. All data users only have access to released
data that the reporting company has released.
10) Can I amend data later after it has been
reported?
Yes. You may "unrelease" any data request that
has been released, make your adjustments, and release it again.
11) What about security?
OneReport®'s security measures to restrict access to data
and prevent loss of data comply with the requirements from
IT departments of large multinational companies. For more
information, see the Security Statement.
12) What are the different service packages
and options for OneReport®?
OneReport® Pro also allows you to have two users, but you may
choose to report to multiple research and rating organizations
and respond to the GRI indicators. Data management is limited,
but includes access and import of archived data and a pdf
tool.
OneReport® Corporate provides a powerful list of customization
options, unlimited users, workflow management tools, document
library, and internal review and auditing.
